JohnGOODWINGOODWIN John, aged 87 of Guildford, Surrey, sadly passed away on Wednesday 7th March at Albury Care Home in Guildford. John was born to Henry and Flora Goodwin in Hither Green, near Lewisham, South East London on Wednesday 29th October 1924. He served with the Royal Air Force from 1941 to the end of the war. During this time he met his wife, Patricia Elsa Elliot. After the war, John joined the Inland Revenue where he stayed until his retirement in 1982. He is probably best known, however, for his involvement with racing pigeons. He was Chief Convoyer with the National Flying Club for many years. John is survived by his sister Dorothy LennardT his children, Kathryn Grant, Duncan Goodwin and Elizabeth HopesT and his grandchildren, Scott and Adam Grant. A funeral service is to be held at Guildford Crematorium, on Thursday 29th March, at 12 noon followed by a wake at the Lion Brewery in Ash. Please do not send flowers. Rather, make donations to the RAF, Benevolent Fund, 67 Portland Place, London W1B 1AR.
